Beginning in May 2009, four HomeTownRent interns began work at the new office location in Carrboro, NC. Their focus: national expansion. Over the past few years, HomeTownRent has grown consistently to provide high quality, locally focused rental property advertising websites in dozens of towns across America. This summer, HomeTownRent plans to expand into at least 50 new cities.
The interns include Lauren Haley, a 2009 graduate from UNC-Chapel Hill’s School of Journalism, and three UNC business school undergraduates, Heather Tate, Margaret Sala and Michael Wilson. In addition, Samantha Evei is doing a part time internship from Atlanta, GA, where she will expand service into three college neighborhoods: EmoryRent.com (Emory rentals), AUCRentals.com (Atlanta University Center rentals), and GeorgiaTechRent.com (Rentals near GT).
In addition to expanding HomeTownRent’s growing footprint, the summer internship program provides an opportunity to learn hands-on business development, grassroots marketing, public relations and client relationship management skills. In essence, each intern builds a website into a viable, local business which can provide the most cost-effective and quality rental classified service in a given town.
